When a gap year turned into a career.
It was 1987 and living in the small NSW outback community of Broken Hill, I had just graduated from high school. Whilst initially excited about heading off to university in the big smoke to complete a Teaching Degree, when the time came, I hesitated, I didn’t feel ready to leave home, so I took a gap year.
Well, what a life changing decision that was! I immediately accepted a position as a Trainee Dental Nurse and instantly fell in love with Dentistry. I soon realised that caring for people was a fundamental aspect of career satisfaction for me. After completing my dental nursing certificate via correspondence and graduating top of my class, a mentor at the time suggested I consider Dental Hygiene. Perfect I thought! This spoke directly to everything I loved about my job, it built on my instincts to care for patients. The move to Adelaide was now inevitable.
Whilst in Adelaide I worked as a Dental Nurse and studied Dental Radiology before obtaining my Associate Diploma of Dental Hygiene. For me the fire was lit, my passion for the industry continued to grow and it remains today. I truly love all facets of my job and the fact that my patients are not just a mouth, they become family. I really want the very best results and health outcomes for everyone. I love seeing people smile, creating confidence. You know the old saying, ‘if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life’, it’s true for me.

I want to achieve the best possible outcomes for all my patients, focusing on their individual needs, wants and requirements. I want every patient to feel confident in their own smile and to assist them in maintaining a healthy mouth. I have invested in the highest quality equipment, offering the latest technology, and combined with my 30+ years of experience in the dental profession, patients can feel confident to discuss any concerns they may have.
